The second stage of the application process, which is the On-boarding stage, comes after the Pre-Qualification/Verification stage.
During this second stage of the application procedure, you will be required to place a down payment for one of the cars on the LagRide platform, these cars are brand new.
There are three options that have been made available on the LagRide platform in order for you put your down payment on a car.
The first method of transferring entity is by outrightly paying the minimum required amount which is ₦700,000. The alternative for the second equity contribution is called third party financing, this method calls for 20% of the ₦700,000 including a loan facility that would be made available to pay up the remaining balance.
The third payment option is for anyone who is not able to pay the initial down payment for a LagRide vehicle. In this case, a sponsor or partner will be introduced to you, this sponsor or partner will make the initial payment for you and also get 20% of your daily net revenue.
As soon as you pay the deposit for the LagRide vehicle, you will be given a car and a mobile device.
In addition to the vehicle and mobile device that will be given to you, the down payment also includes the following:
- Registration and insurance.
- Advance rent payment on dash cam for a month.
- First aid kit.
- E-Hailing License from LASG.
With all of these settled, you are now a captain of LagosRide in accordance with the rules.
LAGRIDE: Things You Should Know
After successfully going through the On-boarding process, the car you will receive will be owned by Ibile Holdings of the Lagos State Government until you have fully settled your debt.
After sending your first down payment, the sum of ₦8,950 will be subtracted from your daily fare to complete the car repayment process. This subtraction will continue for two more years, after which, you can give an outright payment to settle your outstanding debt. Once you have fully repaid your debt, the title and ownership of the vehicle will be delivered to you.
The second important thing to note is the LagRide platform’s maintenance and insurance approach. Every decision that is made in regards to upkeep and insurance will be made on your behalf.
For every travel fee you make, 4% of it will be set aside for maintenance and insurance. You are required to adhere to the maintenance schedules when they pop up on the app so as to avoid being fined.
Also, you can submit a repair request through the maintenance area of the LagosRide Driver app. A LagRide driver’s insurance package should include complete coverage as well as protection against, accidents, disabilities, and/or fatalities.
Another key thing you should know if you use or want to use LagRide is the ‘Debt Service’. Throughout the Onboarding process you received a wallet, this wallet is used, each day, to handle the deductions that are necessary for your car’s payback. If your cash at hand is not enough, your account will be debited and the value will be subtracted if you have money there.
LAGRIDE Deductions
There are two primary groups that LagRide divides its deductions into and they are; the specified group and the required group whereby debt service is deducted from each fare.
Details on the required debt service of LagRide is provided below:
- Asset repayment: ₦8950.
- Mobile phone repayment: ₦209.
- Rent on dash cam: ₦500.
The following percentage deductions are required from each trip fare that you take in a LagosRide vehicle:
- Tech co: 17%.
- Re-fleeting: 1.5%.
- Asset co: 1.5%.
- Communication: 1%.
- Maintenance and insurance: 4%.
At the end of the day, after all necessary deductions have been made you will find your overall daily net profit in your account.
However, you only get to receive money in your wallet twice a week, on Mondays and on Thursdays. You are responsible for paying for the fueling of your car through the use of your income.
Can A Lagride Driver Collect Physical Cash?
Protocol or normal practice does not allow the driver to accept physical cash from passengers who request a LagRide service, but, if it was indicated by the passenger during request that cash was their preferred payment, then the driver can collect the cash from the passenger and notify them via the app that he/she has received the cash.
The equivalent of the cash payment will be deducted from your LagRide wallet right away. Even at that, you cannot take money from passengers into your personal account.
